Year after year more and more people climb into debt using their high interest credit cards. The funny thing is that many of those people also talk about how they want to invest in the stock market. So the question is why would anyone want to even attempt investing in the stock market while still retaining high interest credit card debt?
I will admit that I myself in my early twenties fell victim to the lure of the credit card. It is almost laughable how many credit card offers a typical person receives in the mail week after week. I actually have a paper shredder that I use just about everyday after I pick up the mail. What is even worse is the fact that the credit card companies are counting on the fact that a lot of people will be irresponsible with the credit they offer them. Credit card companies make a fortune not only on the high interest rates consumers pay, but also on the penalties and late fees they collect. I did learn my lesson, and now I understand that life is much more pleasant when you live within your means and eliminate your credit card debt.
Having the desire to learn about investing is a very good first step for people. However, understanding how to live within your means and control your credit card debt is far more important. Credit card debt can literally destroy an individual's life. So take control of your spending today and eliminate that high interest credit card debt. Then you will be ready to invest in something that will bring you wealth.
So to all those wondering what they should invest in; I say make sure you invest in yourself first and eliminate your high interest credit card debt. It makes no sense to worry about what stock to invest in if you are paying 10%-25% interest on your credit card debt every month.
